This year I am mainly teaching the core subject of reading. Until I became a teacher, I had no concept of how strategic it is. One of my favorite sayings is: There is no teaching without learning; and no learning without teaching. I do not know who originally made this statement, but I certainly understand it at this point in my career.
It is my goal to research and put the following reading strategies to work in my classroom:
- K-W-L Charts
- Graphic Organizers such as Summary Writing Frames
- Vocabulary Instruction
- Writing to Learn (Quick Writes)
- Structured Notetaking
